Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world offered its support for the star in the wake of the devastating accident.
