Chelsea defender playing for England

Trevoh Chalobah followed his sibling Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the twenty-first pair of siblings to play for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is set to link up with the England squad to replace injured Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to link up with the squad for England's remaining World Cup qualifying matches against Albania and Serbia, but it has yet to be made public.

The Three Lions have already secured qualification for next summer's World Cup.

Chalobah was given his first selection under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then earned his first cap against the Senegalese team.

In September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unlucky to be left out from the team for qualifying games against Andorra and Serbia, and additionally did not select him for the following October international break.

Tuchel has been an key presence in Chalobah's development, having awarded him his Chelsea debut in the year 2021.

Chalobah has played in almost every fixtures for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the side third in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi suffered a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Conference League success over AZ Alkmaar in their last match.

There are likely to be additional call-ups to the team. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has announced that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) are set to pull out from the national team.
