Suspected Stalker Asked: 'However Imagine I Could Be Madeleine?'
A female accused with stalking Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a voicemail message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and data obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during the past two years.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and remains unresolved.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
One phone message, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine was, but I believe what I believe."
While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "What if there is a small chance that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Isn't that crucial for you?"
"I am not seeking money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I only wish to understand," the message continued.
The tribunal was advised that through electronic messages, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a bid to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who collated the evidence, informed the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally contacted close associates of the McCanns, as per the call data.
On 9 October 2024, the father answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "the wrong phone."
On that occasion Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my claim."
The court heard the co-defendant struck up a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a trip to the McCanns' home in that area in December 2024.
Phone records demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated via communication app to Mrs McCann to state the press had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the period leading up to the appearance to the village, Leicestershire, in last December.
The court was told message exchanges between the two individuals, in that autumn, considering endeavoring to obtain Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her bins or from silverware at a dining venue.
"We need to assert ourselves," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.
On the evening of the appearance to their house, Mrs Spragg dispatched a communication which stated: "We find ourselves sitting near the McCanns' home with our vehicle dark resembling detectives. I wanted to accomplish this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be doing that with the McCanns."
